3D PRINTING MATERIALS

PLA, PETG, ABS/ASA or TPU?

A simple guide to the four material families customers ask about most.

The quick answer

PLA

Best for models, display pieces, visual prototypes and many general prints.

PETG

A practical choice for many brackets, holders, enclosures and everyday functional parts.

ABS / ASA

Useful where more temperature capability is needed; ASA is often considered for suitable outdoor use.

TPU

The flexible option for grips, bumpers, feet, covers and parts that need to bend.

Use this rule of thumb

Clean detail or basic prototype → PLA
Everyday functional part → PETG
Heat or suitable outdoor exposure → ABS / ASA
Flexible part → TPU

The final choice also depends on geometry, wall thickness, print orientation, actual load, temperature and filament grade.
